About TVGR and what we Play..
The story of TVGR
TVGR was planned for years, however I had no idea how to start, how hard it'd be or the costs involved. It was put on the backburner as a dream or fantasy for years with no name in mind.
The one thing that was always certain though is the Dream was never forgotten or far from conversations.
As a disabled person who needs a carer to help with life's basics that others take for granted, I wanted to achieve something not just something but my dream.
It finally happened on July 5th 2022, during a casual conversation on social media one of my friends happened to mention how simple setting up a radio station was in your own home in this modern age. I was intrigued.
I had already presented shows years ago for other radio stations from home and knew a small amount of people to turn to to ask questions and gain some useful information and start opening some doors. I did a few hours worth of intense googling and fired off some emails and within just 24 hours of that social media chat TVGR was born (or TV Gold Radio) as it was known then. We went through a few rebrands and now 14 months later we have some amazing shows, some awesome jingles and some loyal listeners.
The station doesn't make a single penny as we don't have adverts, sponsors or any help at all. That's where donations can be helpful they can be plowed directly into the running costs (I make absolutely nothing).
I don't like how radio stations became franchised into "Heart" etc. All local and independent aspects all gone. Endless adverts and the same 20 dreadful predictable songs on a loop!
So what better way to find a radio station to replace great stations like Atlantic 252 that everyone loves and misses than to make your own!
We play tracks from 1955-2012 (with occasional exceptions up to 2023). With a library of over 20,000 songs,specialist shows for all tastes and at least 5 an hour you haven't heard on radio in years, many since they originally charted.
